Ragnarok Online: The Animation
As the title suggests, with the popularity of Ragnarok Online in Japan,
an animation was created based on the game.
As far as Anime goes, this series is below average. The animation quality
is poor, and the story line is weak and full of cliches. A regular Anime
fan would probably get bored after the first episode.
For a seasoned RO player however, this anime is hilarious - mainly
because you can make fun of almost everything that happens in the series.
On December 18, 2004, some of the SR Sydney players (Lunakitty, Lenor,
Sixe, Asheroth, Sir Cyrus., and Kalu) decided to sit down one Saturday
and watch the entire series (all 26 episodes) in one go.
Below are just a few points we picked up while watching the anime.
They contain SPOILERS so only scroll down if you've
watched it or have no intention of watching it.
SPOILER SPACE
Roan
- Botted his way to Crusader at the Coal Mines and then Byalan.
- After getting to Crusader, Roan acquired the typical botted-to-high-levels,
arrogant, self-righteous attitude seen in many Knight-classes.
- Was originally an AGI-Knight, but after finding the Crusader in
Byala, he re-made his character into pure INT/VIT.
- Focused on levelling at the expense of his party.
Yuufa
- Leeched her way to Priestess, thereby acquiring the incompetent
party-play displayed by most leeched priests.
- She did this because as an acolyte, she put all her stat points
into DEX (instant cast Holy Light anyone?) before
putting points into INT.
- Who the heck priorities the casting of Holy Light before
Heal in a party?!
- Yuufa was later
haxed hacked by her brother Keough.
Maya
- Was so jaded by the bad attitude of the RO community in their
server
world, she resorted to making friends with her pet Poi-Poi, non-aggro
monsters (like Alice) and NPCs.
- Maya's running a modified client. Despite looking like a Merchant,
she's really a Pot Alchemist in disguise!
Takius
- Out of all the characters, Takius seems to be the most normal. But
she does seem to be a high-levelled mage with high DEX.
- I think out of all the characters, Takius is the only one with a
skill set that makes sense. Everyone else seems to be using Skill
overrides because they seem to be able to use EVERY SINGLE skill (especially
Roan).
Judia
- Is a pure or high LUK Falcon huntress.
- She doesn't seem to have a lot of DEX - as demonstrated through
all the monsters she missed during the flashback when the party got
lost int he forest. (I mean, she missed hitting a poison spore for
crying out loud XD)
Iruga
- Is a pre-Commodo assassin - very low DEX, all flee. Having Venom
Splasher was a dead-giveaway for this too.
Keough
General Observations
- Tis anime was set on a private server, as demonstrated by the impossible
skill sets that most of the characters possess.
- The woman helping Roan was iROGM01!!
- Zephyrus has one of those "Come on, it's just a game. Who gives
a stuff about what I do." attitudes.
- Town invasion at Morroc: zergling rush.
- Baphoment to Dark Lord at the end: "Serves you right loser.
I'm the King of Glast Heim!"
